Effective 27 October 2026 · Version 2.3
ShareLah is a group expense splitting app for Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. You can create groups, invite friends, add expenses (including by scanning a receipt), split costs in MYR, SGD, IDR, or THB, track balances, and record settle-up between members. You can also run a temporary guest split (Kira Sekejap), suggest places for a hangout, send an in-app reminder, share a group settlement link so members can open settle-up in the app, and see those events in an in-app notification list. ShareLah is a pilot product operated for personal / social expense tracking.
ShareLah is not a bank, e-money issuer, payment gateway, remittance service, or foreign-exchange broker. We do not process card payments or transfer money between users. Actual repayment happens outside the app (for example via bank transfer or DuitNow / Touch 'n Go, where those rails are available). ShareLah tracks settlement requests (mark as paid / confirm) and updates group balances after the payee confirms. A group has one base currency. If an expense is entered in a different supported currency, we convert it into that base currency and lock the rate used at the time. Rates come from a public mid-market snapshot or from a rate you enter. You may store repayment instructions (bank account or phone for DuitNow / Touch 'n Go) so members know how to pay you; those details are for coordination only. Kira Sekejap paid marks and in-app reminders do not move money.
You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use ShareLah, including as a guest on a Kira Sekejap link. If you are under 18, you may not use the service and any purported agreement is void.
You must provide accurate account details, including your country (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, or Thailand), and keep your password secure. Your home currency follows that country. You are responsible for activity under your account. Contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Before you can add expenses, a Malaysia profile must complete receive preferences — either a bank name and account number, or a phone number for DuitNow / Touch 'n Go — so others know how to repay you. You are responsible for the accuracy of those details. Local repayment instructions are not available yet for Singapore, Indonesia, or Thailand profiles.
Kira Sekejap guests do not create an account. The host is responsible for who receives the link. Guests must still be 18 or older.
By creating an account you confirm you are able to enter into these Terms under the laws of Malaysia.
Use ShareLah only for lawful personal or social expense splitting. Do not upload illegal content, attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls, scrape the service, or use OCR to process documents you are not entitled to share.
Do not upload receipts or images that contain highly sensitive personal data beyond what is needed to split a bill. We design OCR to ignore personal identifiers where possible, but you remain responsible for what you upload.
Do not misuse other members’ repayment details (bank accounts or phone numbers). Use them only to settle balances for groups you share with them. Do not publish a Kira Sekejap link that shows repayment details. A group settlement link is for members of that group only — it does not grant non-members access to the group, its expenses, or repayment details, and it is not an invite. Do not put someone else’s name on a guest split unless you are including them in that bill, and do not claim a guest name that is not yours. Do not paste unlawful or misleading links in a hangout poll.
Settle-up is a two-step process in the app: a payer marks a suggested payment as paid, and the payee confirms. Group balances update when the payee confirms. Opening a shared group settlement link only takes a signed-in group member to that group's settle-up view. It does not mark a payment as paid, confirm a payment, or join the group. Marking or confirming incorrectly can create disputes between members; ShareLah does not mediate those disputes. A Kira Sekejap guest can mark their share as paid on that link. That mark does not change group balances and is separate from group settle-up.
The creator of an expense may edit certain metadata (such as merchant, description, category, payment method, or date) while the group is open. Removing a shared expense requires a second group member to confirm; confirmation can reverse related balance adjustments. A shared removal cannot be requested while that group has a pending settle-up. Personal (individual) expense records that do not affect balances may be removed by their creator without a second confirmer.
Closing a multi-member group requires all member balances to be settled and no pending settle-ups. A sole-member group may be closed even if a residual balance remains. After a group is closed, the group creator may permanently delete it (and its expenses) from the app.
Receipt scanning and category suggestions use third-party AI inference (Groq). Results may be incomplete or incorrect. Always review extracted amounts, line items, categories, and payment methods before saving an expense.
OCR is rate-limited to protect shared capacity. Limits may change as the pilot evolves.
Expense free-text fields (such as merchant name, description, and line-item names) are anonymised about six months after the expense date. Amounts, currencies, locked exchange rates, and related numeric fields may be kept longer so open group balances can still be calculated. Expenses in fully settled groups, and closed groups, are hard-deleted after the six-month window as described in our Privacy Policy. That hard-delete waits while a settle-up or expense removal for the group is still pending.
A Kira Sekejap link stays open for at most 28 days. After it closes, the session — including guest names — is hard-deleted about 30 days later. The host can delete a closed session sooner.
Profile repayment details, country, home currency, optional monthly budget, and other profile fields are not cleared by the expense retention job. You may update them in Settings (including switching receive method; a complete method is required while a Malaysia account is active) or delete your account in Settings by typing DELETE and confirming with your password. Account deletion is blocked while you have unsettled balances (you owe or are owed) in an open group with other members, or any pending settle-up involving you. Some residual logs held by processors may persist for a short period as described in the Privacy Policy.
ShareLah is provided "as is" and "as available" for the pilot. To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We are not liable for disputes between group members, incorrect splits arising from user input or OCR errors, incorrect settlement marks or confirmations, inaccurate repayment instructions you or others provide, or outages of third-party providers.
Exchange rates shown in the app are mid-market snapshots for splitting a bill. They are not a quote, a bank rate, or a service we provide as a money changer. A rate you enter is locked to that expense and may differ from a later snapshot.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ShareLah and its operator from claims, losses, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your misuse of another user’s repayment details (including bank account or phone numbers), your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the service — except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to ShareLah is limited to RM100 or the amounts (if any) you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Courts in Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
